The
biggest achievement of the year was Rath Yatra at Sri Jagannath
Temple. This was a long standing dream that came true for crores of
devotees of supreme lord Sri Jagannath swami across the world to
have Rath Yatra celebrated in full scale at Bangalore. At last
Bangalore too joins as 1374th to the club of cities in the world
that being outside Orissa witnessed Rath Yatra first time year, a
festival that binds together hearts and souls of all devotees across
the world with the threads of love and universal brotherhood. On
this date our ever beloved lord Jagannatha came out of the Temple
and ride thru a spectacular procession on a state of the art
traditional wooden Chariot. We had the most spectacular event of the
year, the shining day of the calendar, the day that counted to a
synchronous gathering of devotees of lord Sri Jagannath swami at
Bangalore for a common divine and spiritual reason.
Mega
success of Rath Yatra at Sri Jagannath Temple has added a new
dimension to the identity of Odia community at Bangalore, A
prestigious definition of respect to our covalence and coexistence
on Karnataka soil, a life time memory for generations to come,
altogether a new wing of richness to our culture and most
importantly a cute smile to the faces of our ever beloved deities.
Attached is a recap of the whole episode.
2.
Music concert by Anoop Jalota :
Sri Jagannath Temple
celebrated the International Non-Violence day this year with a
concert by Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota at Chowdia Memorial Hall on 2nd
October. Supported by Mangaldeep Incense Sticks, the event was
organized by Maam Entertainment and the proceeds of the concert went
towards funding the construction of our Shree Jagannath Temple.
3.
Ganesh Puja : 3rd September this
year left behind an impressive memory of a ritual, a cute looking
deity and an evening full of dancing and swinging beats. Orissa
Culture Associations and Orissa Puja Committee had architected two
spectacular events at Bangalore that threw everyone to the heap of
fun and enjoyment with a boost of energy and excitement. The event
witnessed Special Cultural evening with Cine stars, Album
celebrities and Professional Orchestra team from Orissa, Prasad
Sevan arrangements for everyone with delicious Oriya food at the
venue and this time we have ensured that all devotees will get best
quality food and multiple counters will be opened to get quickest
service and large varieties in food. The event also provided ample
opportunity to many young talents with skills in Odissi Dance,
Singing, Stage Shows, Dance talents and any other audience
entertaining skills.
Minister for IT and cultural, Orissa honorable Sri. Surya Narayan
Patra attended the show as Chief guest and witnessed
Sambalpuri Dance, Odissi by Madhulita Mohapatra & Troop, Orchestra
by Album artists from Orissa, Gotipua dance by Special Troop from
Puri, Antakhyari, Solo & Duet, Modern dance, Stand up Comic, Mimicry
& Caricature items.
4.
Miscellanious Rituals : Thick or
thin all major rituals of Odia culture were celebrated at Sri
Jagannath Temple. Rolling over the calendar, the Temple witnessed
Shiva Ratri, Saraswati Puja, Deba Snana Purnima, Netra Utsav, Sudasa
Brata, Sabitri Amabasya, Biswakarma Puja, Durga Puja, Kumar Purnima,
Gaja Laxmi Puja, Durga Puja and Dipavali at times. Devotees from all
skins and casts participated and celebrated the rituals at the
temple premises.
5.
Door to Door campaign for Sri Jagannath
Temple Construction : During Feb till May, an acute
shortage of revenue was felt. To push up the down trend statistics,
ideas triggered around. Responding to proposals from Sri. Vighnesh
Rudra Das, Seven people joined an adventurous experimental
initiative to go around door to door of Odia brothers and sisters
during only Saturday and Sunday morning just spending 2 hours each
day. The results were truly spectacular. A massive Door to Door
campaign was lunched. Challenging the hot sun, dusty wind and
unknown locale, more than 3 and a half lakhs could be collected
during these 4 months and thus neutralizing the statistics back to
normal.
The set
of brave men who conquered this task were Sri Saroj Tripathy, Sri.
Debeesantosh Prakash, Sri. Vighnesh Rudra Das, Sri. Chitta Rout,
Sri. Siba Ram Baral , Sri. Biraj Bhuyan, Sri. Aurodeepta Pattanayak
and Sri. Nilakantha Mohanty. We also thanks to all those IT
professional brothers and sisters who contributed to this divine
cause.
We missed
: Although it was proposed during beginning of the year by Sri Siba
Ram Baral, Trustee, Sri Jagannath Temple to Organize a Twenty 20
Cricket tournament among selected teams from Oriya dense locales of
Bangalore motive behind is to bind all oriya hearts and souls here,
but due to limitations time & resource limitations and work load
related to Temple construction, This plan couldn't be executed.
Secondly, Prasad sevan at Ganesh Puja venue could have been better
arranged. Due to lack of volunteers, we had left this to a third
party vendor and thus fell flat to our plans. Our Apologies
for that.
Best regards,
Team NIlachakra
