ETV-ORIYA, the first Oriya satellite channel with an
objective to broadcast quality infotainment software in the regional
language. As an endeavour to honor the personalities of the state
who have made substantial contribution to the State and its people,
ETV Oriya has started the annual award tradition in the name of ‘ETV
PRIYA ODIA’ since 2006.
Selected through a genuine public poll system in 2006 the
distinguish political and literary icon of our times
Mr. Naveen Pattanaik adorned the
Priya Odia 2005 pedestal, in 2007 the singing legend
Mr.Bhikari Bala voted as the
Priya Odia 2006 raised the pedestal to a new level and in 2008 the
eminent educationist Dr. Achyuta Samanta
was felicitated with the Priya Odia 2007 saman. Let's select similar
people of extra ordinary qualities for whom Dream was not something
which they saw during sleep, but that which could not let them
sleep.

Let us all give our nomination for the best of the contributor to
Orissa.

- Vedanta Kesari late
Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati who layed his life for preserving self
respect of Hinduism from getting contaminated with religion
conversion.
- Mrs. Kalpana Das from
Orissa Becomes the first Oriya to reach Mount Everest.
- Miss. Pragjyoti Samal
from Bhubaneswar became the first woman to win a crore in an Indian
television reality show.
- Miss. Padmini Rout
from Orissa became World chess champion in under 14 group.
- Mr. AV Giri, the
Orissa tailor who registers into Guinness Book of Records.
- Mr. Keshab Swain of
Orissa created world record by breaking 72 coconuts in 60 seconds.
- Master Budhia the
wonder marathon kid who stromed the world.
- Sri. Sudarshana
Patnaik,
the world renowned sand artist who provides another better reason to
visit sea beach.
- Bijay Mohanty: Veteran

- Sonal Mansingh: Odissi

Naveen Patnaik who has made Orissa the world's fastest growing state
by captaining Team Orissa.
Time has knocked the door again. It's all to re-define our culture
and existence --- thorough the months and years we live and breathe
and the progress we make. It's time to find the best among the best
and the finest among the finest. ETV-ORIYA once again takes special
care and efforts to distinguish the BEST among the high fliers to
provide absolute honor to the most deserving. The selection process
involves letters from the general public from Orissa, mentioning the
names of ten such eminent persons having remarkable achievement in
respective fields of work & culture. Confirming these ten nominated
names there was a mass voting done through the ballot paper in the
50 towns in 30 districts of Orissa . Top Five person will qualify
for the final phase. Process starts in Jan will end on the Oriya New
Year on 14th April 2009.
“No matter where they go in this global village they carry the scent
of Orissa and its cultural inheritance. No matter what they achieved
nothing was dearer than their land.”
