An Analysis of Why it Floods in Orissa every year
A Good News : Indian Railway declares free transportation for RELIEF
materials.

We are leaving on Monday night with your relief materials,
contributions, wishes and sympathy messages to convey the flood
effected people in Orissa who lost their everything. We request
everyone to please contribute whatever possible towards flood
relief. In Orissa the flood Situation has become worst now. River
Mahanadi has breached at 143 places swallowing 40 lakh people in
about 6,000 villages from 18 districts. Only 3.77 Lakh people could
be evacuated leaving 60 dead and thousands still swept away along
with the river water. The survivors will have to still roll thru the
jaws of death, the epidemic diseases that will come. That’s more
dangerous than flood.
Let’s do the following things. We request everyone to actively
participate in flood relief campaign during this week end.
1. Do any one among the readers have contact with
Bank officials of CITI Bank, SBI, HDFC,
ING Vaisya, ICICI, UTI etc. If so then we can approach them and
request to do the needful for a “Orissa Flood Relief online
donation” pop up page to place along with the log in page.
2. Relief collection centers have been
identified at Sri. Jagannath Temple, HSR Lay out, Vishal Hotel –
Munekolala Marathahalli, Sri Jagannath Hotel – Kundanahalli AECS
Layout, Deepa Nursing home – Marathahalli, KIIt Campus -
Koramangala. Please donate your Old clothes, bed sheets, Mosquito
nets, Blankets. Please put them in a polythene cover along with a
small sympathy note on paper. Please call any one of the volunteers
before coming to drop your relief at the designated places. We are
desperately looking for brothers and sisters from all over Bangalore
to join us during this week end for this drive. Please spend your
week end for the highest cause of service to humanity.
3. Please donate monetarily for buying
medicines and antibiotics for the people to fight against epidemic
deseases. please reply us if you wish to pay something. we will
arrange for collections. Upon collecting, you need to send a mail to
helporissatoday@gmail.com CCing the email Id of the volunteer whom
you paid. Please mention the amount you contributed with date. This
will help us track the revenue flow.
4. Can we contribute a pinch of our salary of
just one day at least towards this. Believe me, your one day
salary will add life to many people over there. Let’s snatch back
the victims from the jaws of death.
5. During week end we have decided to have a massive door to door
campaign to collect relief materials. With just a simple printed
note in hand briefing about the grim situation at Orissa, we will
ask for whatever people can give. In apartments we will ask the
security to call one of the association members, request him to
accompany us flat to flat. With printed paper in hand written in
English and Hindi we will explain in brief the situation in Orissa
and then we will ask for contribution.

Amazingly every year in Orissa it floods where as at the same time
in AP it droughts. Two big faults made by Governments in past is now
causing this havoc to all.
Fault 1 : Plan for triple dam on

A master plan called “Ganga Kaveri Project - The Garland Canal “
proposed by Dr.K.L.Rao suggested to to vision to link all the rivers
in India from Brahmaputra, Ganga, to Narmada, Tapthi to Mahanadi,
Godavari, Krishna, Penna to Kaveri. This will effectively circulate
the waters in our land to every nook and corner eliminating the
petty squabbles amongst us. This will be comprising of two Broad
sections The Peninsular Component : 16 links and The Himalayan
Component : 14 links.
