Guru Dibasa

Jaya Jagannath,

It is said that giving a fish you just feed someone for a day, but teaching him how to fish is making him feed himself for ever. A great teacher not just tells, explains, demonstrates but also inspires. A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image. They architect the fate of the earth. Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher. Thus a teacher is that future maker who like a candle consumes himself to light the way for others.

Tomorrow the 5th of September will be celebrated at almost 100 countries around the world to convey an appreciation of the contribution, dedication and devotion of teachers. These essential, indispensable, segment of our educational system help an individual build a better-educated, more tolerant community right from his childhood, thus shaping our thoughts, expanding our horizons, encouraging us to explore and discover our potentialities to max. As we grow and we come out of their shadows, their footprints remain etched on our life paths guiding us forever. In India this day commemorates the birth of a literary scholar and teacher Dr. Radhakrishnan.

Teaching is the art of awakening the natural curiosity of young minds for the purpose of satisfying it afterwards. Thus those who educate children well are more to be honored than parents, for these only gave life, those the art of living well. What the teacher is, is more important than what he teaches. Truly speaking good teachers are costly, but bad teachers cost more.

Wish at the lotus feet of Lord Jagannath to help all of us teach the best values of life to our society and continuously learn the same from the phenomenal lessons of nature. Jaya Jagannath.
