Jai Jagannath,

Impact of "Bandh" or cab strike

India is a country where in any Tom, Dick or Harry tranquilizes any city or state on the name of Bandh, Trucker's Strike or Rasta Roko. It was an estimated 520 crore loss only in Bangalore City per a day's "Bandh". This amount could have been used to make 20 flyovers or 2 hi-tech buildings like ITPL. ( Please refer to Article : Cost of Bandh on Times of India dated 14.02.2007 )

Now there is an interesting story on this. Once In Japan at a shoe manufacturing company, labors went on agitation and declared strike. They wanted to teach a lesson to the higher management for not obeying their demands. They continued to work as usual, but all the shoes that they manufactured during the days of strike were for one side of the foot ( one from a pair ).

Thus they made the management to agree to their demands, and on closure of strike date they started manufacturing the rest half of the shoes, thus making the productivity up to expectations and still could make their demands fulfilled.

Can't we do something similar? Isn't it a lesson to India? Probably yes we too can do this. We can support the cab and truck people in enjoying Bandh, but then the next then We must make them pay for the same.
