Jai
Jagannath,
Kalpana Dash of Orissa has finally
proved her mettle. Fighting against all odds, this girl from
Dhenkanal has made it to the highest peak of the world. Kalpana from
Kumbhar Sahi of Dhenkanal, became the first Oriya to climb Mount
Everest at 11-45 am on Wednesday. Kalpana, had made her first
attempt to climb the world's highest mountain peak on 2004, but had
to return from 7000 meters back due to health constraints. Her
second attempt in 2006 had also ended in failure due to hostile
weather conditions.
But this time round, Kalpana had left Dhenkanal on March 5 with
strong determination to make it a success. And she finally made it
big by scaling the 8,848 metre high Mount Everest making Orissa
proud. While departing Orissa on her last words she told reporters
"Mu
Sri
Jagannathnkara
ashirbada o samasta odia bhai bhauni manankara subhakamana nei
jauchi, nischayan jitibi"
( I am taking with the blessings of lord sri Jagannatha and wishes
of brothers and sisters of Orissa. I will definitely win this time )
and she made it.
As news about her achievement reached on Wednesday afternoon, it was
celebration time at her home in Dhenkanal. Kalpana was the only
Indian among the 27 members, the others belonged to Nepal, US and
other countries. She led a team of five. Other climbers in her team
were Ryszard Kurdziel from Canada and three persons from Nepal –
Lhakpa Rangdu Sherpa, Kusang Tenzing Sherpa, and Ngima Nuru Sherpa.
Nilachakra group on behalf of all non residential Odia people
congratulate Kalpana for her spectacular achievements.
Regards
Nilachakra
