Welcome to a spectacular
week end at Sri Jagannath Temple. Sunday the 1st November, there are
plans to organize a Bhajan Sandhya that will continue till early
morning the 2nd followed by a procession taking the custom made boat
( Boita ) and sail the same at nearby Agara Lake on the auspicious
occasion of Kartika Purnima or Boita Bandana. Kartika punima is the
only day when Lord Jagannath temple remains open throughout the
night and devotees are allowed to have darshan whole night.
Remembering the ancient days when Sea traders ( Sadhabas ) from
Orissa used to sail off to distant islands like Java, Sumatra,
Borneo, Ceylon etc. using huge boats, women of their community were
giving them a hearty send off on this day. The same tradition
follows since then as custom rituals for Odia civilization.

• Stainless steel drums to store
food grain stock : To cater Weekend prasad sevan programs, a month’s
ration is fetched in advance and stored at temple stores. To further
facilitate such storage of food grains we require two or three
stainless steel rice drums.
• A mechanical Tool kit : One
can please donate a complete mechanical toolkit ( mainly containing
electro mechanical handling parts ). This is something which is
required on a daily basis for all time maintenance of fittings and
provisions at the temple. Requesting someone to come forward and
sponsor this life time asset to Temple.
• Few CFL bulbs to replace all
existing tube lights once they fuze : Sine years few tube lights are
serving the temple, but also adding fat to our Electricity bill. To
minimize Power consumption and ensure revenue saving, we request our
devotees to please donate few CFLs
• A water purifier : The Zero B
Water purifier fitted earlier and that served for years together has
gone beyond repairable condition now. To cater the huge demand of
drinking water for devotees we request someone to please sponsor a
heavy duty water purifier.
It is always more divine and of course more a wish of the lord to
receive daily dwelling assets as special gifts from those special
devotees than buying the same from temple funds. Hence we request
