Orissa continues to top the list of
project investment (Rs 5,99,181 crores ) and implementation (Rs
3,08,589 crores ) from 2005, 2006 and 2007. Orissa has emerged as
the country's No. 1 state in terms of the total amount of investment
committed and implemented too.
While the volume of envisaged projects
in Orissa was Rs 5,99,181 crore, much ahead of many developed
provinces, including Maharashtra and Gujarat, the state also tops
the list of places in terms of project implementation. Majority of
investment proposals came in Aluminum, airport, mines, port, energy,
steel, railway and tourism.
Orissa also led the states in project
implementation as about Rs 3,08,589 crore investment was being
implemented in the state. As much as Rs 5,99,181 crore investment
was proposed in 483 projects, of which 52 per cent (Rs 3,08,589
crore) is in implementation stage.
However, the rest 48 per cent, which
amounted Rs 2,90,592 crore, was in announced stage. Above this a
large number of investors are also in queue for putting their money
in power sector.?
