Sri Rama Navami, Basanti Durga Puja, Sudasha Brata

This running week takes us more closure to the eternal world of divine sanctity and holiness. This week witnesses Rama Navami the holy birth of Lord Rama, Basanti Durga Puja and Sudasha Brata in the coming later half of it.

The festivity of Rama Navami is to venerate the holy birth of Lord Rama, the conqueror of great Ramayana who is remembered for his peaceful, prosperous and righteous reign Sun dynasty referred as Ramrajya. Temples across the world witness Bhajans praising the exploits of Lord Rama, his loyal brother Lakshman, goddess Sita and Lord Hanuman. Tropically, Sri Rama Nabami marks the beginning of summer when the sun has started tilting nearer to the northern hemisphere.

Coming next on Thursday is Basanti Puja or Vasant Durga Puja. On this auspicious Vasant Navratri or Chaitra Navratri day, According to the ancient Hindu scriptures and sacred texts, worship of Goddess Durga was significantly celebrated with observance of fast, procedure of Goddess’s worship, Ghatsthapana or Kalasha Sthapana and Kanya Puja.

Sudasa Brata or Dhanu Sankranti is observed on the day of magical rare combination of Shukla Paksha, Gurubara and Dasami tithi. Coming next Thursday the 25th satisfies this equation. Devi Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth is worshipped a special odia recipe called Manda Pitha. A ten layered sacred and sanctified thread is prepared in a certain ritual prescribed procedure and tied by women on their arms till the next arrival of Sudasa Brata.
