Jagannath,
It was an amazing, action-packed event
to be witnessed and experienced, a spectacular show to be a part off
and after all a tasty, mouth watering, delicious, scrumptious, yummy
food to enjoy. These altogether made the score. At the day end Sri
Jagannath temple, Bangalore set a dazzling never before record of
over ten thousand devotees on a single day. Although it was Monday
the first working day of the week, but still over 10,000 people
attending rath yatra at Sri. Jagnnath temple was really awesome.
Here goes yesterday's event data points
1. The day at temple started well before sun could awake. Morning
puja and rituals added life to the surrounding. Puja continued with
pace of the day. Devotees started visiting the temple and thus made
the temple a significant centre of attraction.
2. Afternoon puja started at 4:30 pm with traditional rituals, but
got exciting as the clock moving. A rough three thousand devotees
visited in the evening, raising the total count of devotees for the
day to ten thousand.
3. The three idols were taken on hand and were circulated around the
temple in a convoy of priests and devotees. This simulated the
original rath yatra.
4. Then started "Sandhya Arrati" by the priests accompanied by a
group of devotees holding all kinds of traditional musical
instruments creating a musical ballet, sprinting into a rhythmic
dance. The whole crowd began dancing with the tunes of music.
5. People from different language streams, casts and colors, states
and regions started coming in and offering bhoga to the GOD, taking
snaps of GOD with their cell cameras, digicams, camcoders and
handycams.
6. Then emerged a team of singers from the crowd comprising of
around 15 youths, with all traditional musical instruments
triggering an event like "Bhajana Sandhya". They continued till
night 10 PM, singing all hit bhajans on Lord Jagannath and chanting
in between. It was really amazing.
7. Simultaneously started the Prasad sevan event at basement of
original temple under construction. There was an arrangement of
delicious buffet dinner for over two thousand people serving free of
cost. Hot hot Jalebis, Spicy Puri and Alu matar curry and fried rice
with dal were the ones that conquered appetite of people. Food was
so good that One could see people eating multiple times, asking for
the caterer, noting down the contacts numbers and even thanking the
temple trust for such good arrangements
16th of july 2007 will no longer be remembered as only Rath yatra,
but will also be counted as a day that marks record setting
gathering of devotees on a single day at Sri Jagannath Temple,
Bangalore. Thanks a lot to all the devotees for making the day a
