Today the whole world has
again assembled at the lotus feet of Lord Jagannath to celebrate
Bahuda Yatra, the most auspicious and divine return procession of
Lord Jagannath and his brother and sister from Aunt place back to
Sri Mandira on a huge state of the art wooden chariot. Tomorrow the deities are
going to be attired in new glittering golden costumes. This form of
the deities is known as the famous Suna Vesa, the golden attire. It is quite auspicious and good fortune to donate even a small
piece of golden ornament to the Lord. Devotees who gifts even a tiny
ornament to the Lord on this divine day, becomes the dearest of all
devotees to Lord Jagannath and thus thru out life receives unique
blessings. Sudasha Brata the unique ritual for married women worshipping Goddess Laxmi falls on the intersection day of Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon), Thursday and Dasami in Oriya Calendar Sudash Brata is observed. The main ritual involves the tying of a sacred thread on the hand by women. The thread is only replaced during the next Sudasa Vrata.
