Team Nilachakra wishes you all the brightest of talent, sharpest of wisdom and deepest of intellect and aptitude on eve of Saraswati Puja.

An Auspicious day :

The 5th day of the bright lunar fortnight of Maagha month coins to Vasant Panchami, Sri Panchami or Saraswati puja. The words 'Sree' and 'Basanta' are significant to the festival. 'Sree' is beauty and the other name of 'Saraswati' and Basanta is spring season which brings beauty and pleasure to the Earth. Saraswati literally means 'the flowing one'. In the Rigveda it is said she represents a river and the deity presiding over it.

Mythological Significance :

The realm of divinity flows from a streamlined source of Wisdom. Devi Saraswati idolized as the goddess of all creative arts, Wisdom, Intelligence, Education, poetry & music, learning and science is a white refined pious woman seated on lotus flower with crescent moon on her brow and swan at next. White swan symbolizes SattvaGuna (the quality of purity and discrimination). The goddess is worshipped for her purifying, fertilizing and enriching qualities. Mythology says Goddess Saraswati invented Sanskrit, the language of scriptures and scholars. Referring to her versatile specialties the goddess is also known by different names like 'VeenaVandini (Vina player), 'VaniDayyani' (giver of speech), Vinapani (due to holding the Vina), Saarada (giver of essence), Vagisvari (mistress of speech), Braahmi (energy of Lord Brahmaa), Mahavidya (knowledge supreme) , Bakdevi, Biraj, Sarada, Brahmi, Satarupa, Mahasweta, Sarbasukia, Prithudar, Bagiswari and, ofcourse, Saraswati.

Maha Mantra :

Yaa Kundendu tushaara haaradhavalaa, Yaa shubhravastraavritha,
Yaa veenavara dandamanditakara, Yaa shwetha padmaasanaa,
Yaa brahmaachyutha shankara prabhritibhir Devai sadaa Vanditha (poojitaa)
Saa Maam Paatu Saraswatee Bhagavatee Nihshesha jaadyaapahaa

Explanation : May that Goddess - Bhagavathi - the blessed Saraswathi presiding deity of learning and remover of our lethargy, laziness and ignorance, protect us. She is pure and white like the jasmine, the full moon and the garland like formation of dewdrops. She is dressed in a spotless robe. She has in her hand, the auspicious instrument veena. She is seated on a white lotus. She is the one who is always respected by Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver, Shankara the annihilator and other Gods.

A comic clip : Mothers always compel kids to study, but only on one particular day of the year they keep the books off the shelf next to the feet of a clay goddess and tells the kids not to study for the day. Kids wait the whole year to enjoy that particular day.
