Mounting terror strikes has cornered India to a crucial
cross road. Either we can prefer peace and we hence bleed ever or we
eliminate the root of terror and we live happily forever. IT being a
fluid catalyst to Economy, posses much potential threat towards
terror strikes. IT professionals and infrastructures are most
vulnerable soft targets to such hazards. It becomes our foremost
responsibility to shield our IT assets with precautionary and
preventive measures well intact. A Lean methodology in place and
periodic mock exercises will ensure our certificate towards survival
of the fittest.
• The more we sweat in peace, the less we bleed in war. To justify
this, all organization high commands must come up with periodic mock
drill of how to act sessions for terror strikes and bomb threats
apart from fire and earthquake disasters.
• Electric fencing for a minimum of 3 feet over a 6 feet wall should
be must. We must also ensure that beyond the compound wall there
must not be any tall trees or equal height houses or even parking
space for any heavy vehicle to rest. In case this, will pose equal
threat to the organization. Neighboring residents should be
cooperating in this regard.
• Hidden cameras, CC Tvs and other surveillance and remote sensing
equipments must be awake and alive round the clock and would be
nourishing with views of the vital strategic installations round the
clock.
• High ground Security towers must be stationed at each corners of
the compound, equipped with binoculars, night vision equipments,
wireless sets, fox lights and early warning sirens be must.
• Emergency rescue team to be well trained with primary evacuation
procedure and instant response in case of terror attach and bomb
hoax.
• Most precious buildings inside the compound must be fitted with
safety room grill doors that can instantly seal the complex at the
press of a button and thus protect all assets from any kind of
assaults.
• All employee Id cards must contain their blood group, emergency
contact number and nearest hospital emergency cell number. This will
help rescuers instantly respond with adequate help.
• Night time patrolling must be assisted with sniper dogs.
Implementing laser beam torches and sensors facing each other along
the length of the compound walls is also effective. Anyone trying to
pass thru the invisible laser beam will invariably trigger the
sensors to raise an alarm.
• Anti terrorist counter measures must be educated to IT each
employees on a corporate initiative basis by anti terrorist cell of
city police.
• Baggage checking and ammunition detectors must be installed at
check points. Employees and officials should bear with any
inconvenience caused and should voluntarily support this move.
• Drinking water and externally cooked food for a mass
section of the employee must be tested and examined before serving.
• Security personnel guarding inside the compound must be modernized
and well equipped with state of the art ammunitions to counter any
threat.
• Company should have all privileges to check and monitor any
employees mails, stuff on disk or even tap any employee's calls
inside office compound without prior notice.
• Company trips, picnics, Outings must be accompanied with security
personal, or the city police and destination police station should
be informed well in advance about the trip demography.
• It companies must train employees all precautionary and preventive
measures against suspected terror threat and unattained objects. Any
suspicious object or baggage if unattended lying inside compound
should be instantly cordoned around and covered with sand bag piles
or a sturdy object ( A big size concrete garden flower pot also
solves the purpose ). The objective should be restricting any bomb
sprinters inside the cover in case it goes off. A basic knowledge of
crude bomb diffusion is an added advantage.
• Multistoried buildings must have other instant evacuation routes
and infrastructure apart from stairs. ( inflatable air cushions,
knotted ropes, rope stairs and many such things can be implemented )
• All gates and entry check points must be manned with at least an
armed security personal behind sand bag cover.
• Digital Alarming system is a good early warning system, but
speaker phone serves better as people can be guided & navigated
directly from the control room and thus we can prevent panic
stricken people running towards the danger zone.
• All employees must be aware of Do's and Don'ts during gun shots,
fire arm fights and grenade hurls. Female employees need to be
extremely taken care off.
• In case of hostage crisis or hijack situations, employees must be
well aware of how to respond or react. Any wrong step by any
employee in haste or anger may worsen the situation and lead to
massacre.
• Local police stations, company Administration and high command
should be at a button press distance from the security check points.
It must be learnt that any delay in communication or decision making
will pile up casualties at the other end.
• Organization should have computerized automatic call facility that
can spread the emergency news to all cell phones instantly. Thus we
can even reach to any employee who is not on desk or even in
compound and keep them at large. ( Synonym : Some times a scheduled
automatic call from Airtel comes and upon picking up we hear a
computerized voice about their new offers. This system can be
implemented ). Let the security control tower just take a moment to
frame the sentence and upon press of an enter button the call should
happen to all employees cell.
• With the rise in sophistication, terrorists may get equipped with
electronic and digital warfare equipment. Necessary counter measures
must be well in place.
• Primary Medicare equipment boxes should also be containing
pharmacy for wounds and injuries caused due to bullets, grenade
fragments and Chemical bombs.
• In case of extreme urgency, to prevent the terror threat at least
till force arrives, it's better to train few most loyal and
courageous employee and thus prepare an internal set of volunteers
with counter striking power.
Let's recommend this to
every companies Admin department and wish they to take measures
