An office is unnecessaryAs technology allows people to work from anywhere anytime, employees around the world, including in India, are beginning to feel that an office is unnecessary, may be even a burden for them. Around 9 of 10 employees in India (93%) feel they do not need to be in the office to be productive, according to a survey conducted by networking company Cisco. And when respondents were asked to choose between higher salary and greater flexibility (working from remote locations, including their homes), 78% in India said that they would choose the lower offer with higher flexibility.

The workplace study commissioned by Cisco and conducted by InsightExpress, a third-party market research firm based in the US, surveyed 2,600 workers and IT professionals in 13 countries, including India. Globally, 3 of every 5 employees (60%) believed it was unnecessary to be in the office to be productive , given that there are technologies and devices available today to make remote work viable. The study said the sentiment was particularly strong in Asia and Latin America. Employees globally also feel that having the flexibility to work anywhere would dictate their company loyalty (13%), choice of jobs (12%), and morale (9%). Two of 3 employees worldwide (66%) said they would take a job with less pay and more flexibility in device usage, access to social media, and mobility than a higher-paying job without such flexibility . This percentage was highest in India and Spain (both 78%).

Cisco said it commissioned the study "to maintain its understanding of present-day challenges that companies face as they strive to address employee and business needs amid increasing mobility capabilities , security risks, and technologies that can deliver applications and information more ubiquitously" . Mobile devices are combining with cloud computing to make remote working viable. Dave Evans, futurist and chief technologist for the internet business solutions group in Cisco, noted that employee mobility was a fact of life, and the business advantages were clear across many industries. "Simply put, this report serves as a call-to-action for IT organizations. "

To avoid sleeping
  1. Use your sense of smell. A strong scent, good or bad, can make you more alert very quickly. Aroma therapists often recommend essential oils of the following plants to stimulate the nervous system and reduce fatigue (open the bottle and take a big whiff when you're feeling drowsy):[1]

·         Rosemary.

·         Eucalyptus blue gum.

·         Peppermint (a study showed that smelling peppermint can lower fatigue by 15%, increase alertness by 30% and decrease frustration by 25%.[2])

·         Coffee (beans or brewed, study has shown that simply smelling coffee can awaken a person) [3]

·         Scots pine oil.

Of course, not all of us have essential oils stored in our file cabinets, but using hand lotions or burning candles with these same scents could help.   Herbs like rosemary and peppermint can often be found fresh or dried at a grocery store; for a little pick-me-up, take a pinch and roll it between your fingertips and smell it. Alternatively, if there's any chili powder around, take a (careful) whiff of that.

  1. Use acupressure. Massaging any of the following points will improve circulation and ease fatigue:[4]

·         Top of your head (lightly tap with your fingertip) .

·         Top of the back of your neck.

·         Back of your hands (between thumb and index finger) .

·         Just below the knees.

·         Earlobes[5]

  1. Take a power nap. If you have the time, sleeping for just 15-20 minutes can increase your alertness by leaps and bounds if you have a cup of coffee (or any other form of caffeine) right before you fall asleep.
  2. Expose yourself to bright light, preferably natural daylight. Your body's internal clock, its circadian rhythms, are regulated by your exposure to sufficient light. Even if you're in an environment where there's artificial light, brighter is better. If you can step outside (even on a cloudy day) or look out the window for a full minute, you'll be more alert. Wherever you work, see if you can replace the light fixture or add a lamp that will brighten your workspace.
  3. Keep yourself uncomfortable.

·         Stay on your feet as much as possible. If you have to sit down, get the most uncomfortable chair you can find. Try not to sit in anything that will make you sore if you stay there. Make sure the back is upright, forcing you to sit up very straight. Don't allow your head to rest on anything--your hands, the desk, the wall.

·         Stay cold. If it's a little cold, take off your sweater or jacket so you stay on the chilly side. Open a window or put on a small fan, pointed at your face.

  1. Exercise at your computer. Just because you're sitting down doesn't mean you can't use your muscles.
  2. Avoid a full stomach. Munch on snacks all day, rather than having a big meal. The key is to not get a spike of sugar intake (followed by the inevitable crash). The same goes for caffeine. Break your consumption down into small doses.

·         Apple - the sweetness and tartness in the flavor, along with the "crunch" will perk you up in a healthy way

·         Sunflower seeds still in the husk (put a small handful in your cheek and crack them open one at a time, using only your teeth and tongue; this will require just enough active thought and tongue movement to prevent you from dozing off, and the salt of the sunflower seeds is invigorating and stimulating; spit out the sunflower husks into a paper cup as you go, as quietly as possible so as to not disturb others around you)

·         Raisins.

  1. Listen to music that's energizing to you; if possible, dance or sing along, even if you just bob your head or hum. Music that's irritating or jarring to you can also work. Just make sure to use headphones so you don't disturb your co-workers.
  2. Every thirty minutes, do one of the following:

·         Physical activity for 2-3 minutes (jumping jacks, push-ups, jogging in place, or walk around)

·         Splash cold water on your face

·         Drink an ice cold glass of water (the coldness picks you up, and guarantees you getting up every half hour or so to go to the bathroom; you won't fall asleep on a full bladder)

·         Brush your teeth

·         Chew gum. Chewing gum stimulates muscles in your face, increasing blood flow to your head, helping you stay alert and awake.

Chain Therapy :  Mrs. Shanthi Krishnamurthi have started by her own initiative ChainTherapy that aims to bring together real needy patients with those who want to help. Basically she is counting on the fact that everyone likes to give a lending hand to a credible cause. Credibility often goes hand-in-hand with transparency. This she believe it could be achieved by making information (about the patient-in-need) available in a manner that could be easily verifiable by anyone should they choose to do so Yes. Putting together relevant information is definitely a time consuming activity should it be the responsibility of an individual. However, if this were taken up by different members of the online community, it will be so much simpler. ChainTherapy is basically a facilitating platform that has been designed to help a person collaborate with many like-minded individuals in raising funds for credible patients. Do check out the portal( www.chaintherapy.org ). If you believe in it, do spread the word around.

Dangers of using hands after toilet – Is it safe to use just soap? :  Surprisingly No, If you see various medical researches done on the efficacy of normal soap, it at best cleans your hands of 50% of the germs. The rest of the 50% stay in the pores of the skin of your hands or under your nails (ref. Hospis Epidemiology Infection Control 2nd. Edition 1999). Now let us look at what happens in our daily life especially after toilet. In India, we invariably use our hands to clean ourselves after toilet. The instance our hands/fingers come in contact with excreta they contaminate them with some of the most dangerous diseases of the world, namely Diarrhea, Hepatitis, Gastro-enteritis, Typhoid, Cholera etc.. No amount of cleaning with a soap is going to get rid of these germs that have penetrated inside your skin pores/ under your nails and find their way into our food cycle when we cook, eat or touch our loved ones. Only Alcohol can be effective. That's why all modern hospitals use Alcohol scrubs and not soaps to clean hands (see pic. below)

A. Germs on hands- without washing with soap
B. Germs on hands- after washing hands with soap
C. Germs on hands-after disinfection with alcohol

We have blissfully been unaware of the dangers of this habit since no research was done on the subject and your naked eyes could not see anything amiss. However, now medical research is opening our eyes to this most dangerous of practices.

So what is the solution to this age old habit?

Today, technology has given us a simple solution called “Hands Free Attachable Bidets” that is a device that can easily be attached to any existing/new commode (WC). It cleans you automatically with a water jet from a special nozzle from below. All you need to do is turn a knob conveniently located next to you and the Bidet does the rest to clean you thoroughly (you can check the results with a tissue for the first time). Certain models have special nozzles designed for women's personal hygiene care and are a great boon especially during periods / pregnancy. These wonder devices not only help protect our family's health and wellness but also are eco-friendly since they save on 90% of water usage compared to mugs, health faucets etc. (pl. see pic.below). A family can save almost 20 litres of water everyday if they use these devices.

Attachable bidets are popular in Japan, America and Europe and are fast replacing the conventional cleaning methods. In India they are now available under the name of Hygiclean Attachable Bidets. They are ideal for homes, offices, hospitals, hotels, schools etc. and any public place. They come with a wide selection of 16 different models to choose from - electronic and manual. Horn OK Please The popular 'Horn OK Please' seen on almost all trucks in India bears its roots in the second world war where the trucks were run on kerosene engines. Kerosene being highly unstable in nature would cause the trucks to explode at the slightest accident. Hence a warning would be painted on the back saying 'Horn Please, On Kerosene'. Gradually this became a norm and is still seen on most trucks even today. Today, this is being translated into a book (Genre: Humour) by Kartik Iyengar (Author of the book). The essence of 'Horn OK Please', which is painted behind truck backs, is a philosophy of the Indian trucking community, which is being brought out in a humorous way in the book. 7 reasons the world will end in 2012 Scientific experts from around the world are genuinely predicting that five years from now, all life on Earth could well finish. Some are saying it'll be humans that set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it'll be God himself who presses the stop button...

1. Mayan Calendar : The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things: Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and Sacrificing Virgins.

Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well.

2. Sun Storms : Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012

3. The Atom Smasher : Scientists in Europe have been building the world's largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it's properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They're predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

4. The Bible says...If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn't bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act aswell. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

5. Super Volcano : Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple - it's sitting on top of the world's biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we're many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

6. The Physicists : This one's case of bog-simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berekely Uni have been crunching the numbers. and they've determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they're claiming their calculations prove, that we're all going to die, very soon - while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

7. Slip-Slop-Slap-BANG! We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that sheilds us from most of the sun's radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so - and right now we're about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.

A CEO At the Age of 14 : Lucknow, Oct. 24 - On Saturday, when Suhas Gopinath, 23, arrived for Shaping Young Minds Programme (SYMP), there were not many to escort him to the venue. It was after sometime that some of the organizers recognized him and ushered him inside the Sangeet Natak Academy auditorium where he was the main speaker for the session. And when the moderator introduced him, many gasped.

For the Bangalore based youth, with a boy-next-door look was actually the world's youngest CEO, who at 14 had floated his own web-solutions company, India Inc, even before the first faint stubble had darkened his chin. In fact, he became his own boss when he had just cleared his class IX! Today, his company, which started from California, US has presence in 11 countries, has 250 employees (most of them young) and a multi billion turnover. "Oh, there have been so many occasions when people have mistook me to be an imposter masquerading as a CEO. It happened six months back in Washington where I had gone to attend a World Bank meet. The security stopped me when I told them that I was the CEO and president of a company," he reminisced talking to HT.
And he recalled instances when international firms refused business with his company simply because he didn't have a proper moustache, he was (and still is) so young! He said, "Hailing from a conservative family, I knew there was no way I could give up on my studies. So, I took admission in an engineering college whose lecturer on coming to know that I owned a company, applied for a job with us!" Gopinath didn't admit his teacher in his company. "We strictly go by merit and do not admit anyone on connections alone. In fact we do not even consider how many marks one has obtained. The emphasis is on skills," he said.

Gopinath, who idolizes Bill Gates said, "When the global meltdown happened, our company wasn't impacted. In fact, at Davos, we issued an advisory for global firms on how to be a winner in recession hit times." His message to the youths: "Being your own boss is far more fun. It was a visit to an Internet cafe as a kid that led me to think of launching a company offering web solutions." The first employee he hired for his company was 30 years, half his age.

"I realized there was a issue if the employees had a boss half their age. To overcome this, we did two things, started hiring younger people and laid emphasis on doing away with hierarchy. Often, we would switch off lights and start playing with the employees. That helped me bond with the employees." How much salary does he earn?

"Well so much is being said about CEO salaries these days. But let me tell you I draw a very meager salary, almost what my project manager gets. I utilize the rest of the amount for my company's expansion." By the time he was through, Suhas Gopinath had indeed shaped several young minds in the audience as most of them said they too would like to employ rather than get employed.

Home Remedies for common Ailments : Dependence on medicines has become such an evil nowadays, even a common cold and fever would make us knock the door of a doctor as though something serious has happened, but as it goes " the treated cold lasts seven days and the untreated cold lasts a week", but with the intent of getting relief from things that are common, we take recourse to medicines that can only provide immediate relief but at the same time carry within them the potential to harm the balance and rhythm of our health in the long run. Natural home remedies are always better, with respect to their effectiveness, not having any side effects, ease of availability (in our own houses or our natural surroundings), and even economical. Nature has provided cure for all the ailments, but most of us are not aware of this and run towards modern medicines, which always have side effects and are not affordable by every one.

Gas Cylinder ( Is it Original and not Expired )- Be careful of this

Photograph details :

o "A" stands for the first quarter i . e . January to March .
o "07" stands for the present year 2007.

We all were still confused with the terms used above.

o A-07 indicates the expiry life of cylinder and not the GAS filled in it.
o This cylinder should not be used and returned to the gas dealer.

Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents.
All concerned should take necessary steps.

Other Valuable Information :
o How to find LPG cylinder's expiry date?
o Very important information.
Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents. In this regard please be cautious at the time of accepting any LPG cylinder from the vendor.

Here is how we can check the expiry of LPG cylinders:
On one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date is coded alphanumerically as follows A or B or C or D and some two digit number following this e.g. D06.

The alphabets stand for quarters -
-- A for March (First Qtr)
-- B for June (Second Qtr)
-- C for Sept (Third Qtr)
-- D for December (Fourth Qtr)

The digits stand for the year till it is valid.
Hence D06 would mean December qtr of 2006.
Share this message with everyone you know, UR kind cooperation will save
life of many people and create awareness among the public.

Please do not accept the cylinder if the date has already expired...

Drive Carefully - A note Ordinary People
Walking on the road, you pass so many people. Some look confident, purposeful, well-dressed, well-maintained. But the majority appear so ordinary, wear ill-fitting clothes, unfashionable footwear, have too much fat or too little, nothing remarkable about them, nothing attractive.

But yet someone somewhere eagerly waits for this unimpressive man to come home every evening.
Someone's entire world turns around the strength of this frail-looking woman.
Someone's very purpose in life hinges on this brash youngster cutting through traffic.
Someone knows only the shelter of these old arms each time their world begins to crumble.
Someone will count hours, minutes, and weep like a child when this pock-marked face alights from a long-distance train.

Someone will cave in, crack up, and never be the same again if this one person disappears from the face of the world.

There are no ordinary people. Drive carefully.

TAX benefits For Salaried Class
-------------------------------------------
-- > Changes in IT slab. Threshold of exemption for all Income Tax assesses raised from from 1,10,000 to 1,50,000 and for women it is 1,80,000. -- > New tax slabs will be: 10 per cent for Rs 1,50,000 to Rs 3,00,000, 20 per cent for Rs 3,00,000 to Rs 5,00,000 and 30 per cent above Rs 5,00,000.

-- > No more banking cash transaction tax.

My calculation says those who getting salary more than 5 Lacs and above will be benefited by at least Rs 50,000/- on tax front.

Some other good incentives
--------------------------------------
-- > Rs 60,000-crore relief package for farmers, including complete waiver of loans given to small and marginal farmers. The loan waiver scheme will benefit 3 crore (30 MILLION) small and medium farmers and cover loans totalling Rs 50,000 crore (Rs 500 billion). One crore (10 million) other farmers will benefit to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore (Rs 100 billion) in the waiver.( I hope this will give a boost to agricultural sector cover up the wide spread social inequality. )

-- > The corpus of rural infrastructure development fund to be raised to Rs 14,000 crore

-- > National Horticulture Mission to be given Rs 1,100 crore in 2008-09 with special focus on coconut cultivation. (Indirect incentive to propel the growth for agricultural sector)

-- > Rs 500 crore for corpus fund to subsidise all women Self Helf Groups for LIC cover for permanent disability. (Women empowerment in rural India)

-- > Allocation for several schemes in North East raised from Rs 14,365 crore to Rs 16,400 crore. (This is always needed as these regions are always neglected)

-- > Allocation for NRHM -- the National Rural Health Mission -- increased to Rs 12,050 crore (This would boost health infrastructure in rural areas)

-- > 16 central universities to be opened in 2008-09 and plans to provide Rs 13,100 crore for the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan. Then 6,000 high quality 'model schools' to be set up at a cost of Rs 600 crore. Twenty per cent hike in education budget this year from Rs 28,674 crore to Rs 34,400 crore.

-- > Allocation for Bharat Nirman to be raised to Rs 31,280 crore.

-- > Allocation for defence increased by 10 per cent from Rs 96,000 crore to Rs 1,05,600 crore. (This is required keeping view of the rise in infiltration in border areas and terrorism in neighboring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh )

-- > CIGARETTES TO BE TAXED MORE (A very good move at least this will help in reducing smoking habit and same is expected for all alcoholic beverages!!!Less of Cheers!!!)
The Income Tax Department has put on its website the list of income tax refunds of all salary tax payers which could not be sent to the concerned persons for want of correct address.

The link to the website is http://www.incometaxindia.gov.in/CCIT/refundsearch.asp

Salary taxpayers who have not received refunds for assessment years 2003\04 to 2006\07 can click on the link below and query using the PAN number and assessment year whether any refund due to them has been returned undelivered from the menu `undelivered salary refund management system'. If any refund has been returned undelivered due to change in address, then the taxpayer can enter the present address and the refund will be sent to the taxpayer at the new address.

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it: -
1. EMERGENCY
The Emergency Number worldwide for**Mobile** is 112, If you find your self out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112can be dialled even if the keypad is locked.

2. Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys?
This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone fro having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

3. Hidden battery power
Imagine your cell battery is very low, you are expecting an important call and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a50%increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time AND...

4. How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 # A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.

5. Be care while using your mobile phone

When you try to call someone through mobile phone, don't put your mobile closer to your ears until the recipient answers. Because directly after dialling, the mobile phone would use it's maximum signaling power, which is: 2 watts = 33dbi, Plz Be Careful, Message as received (Save your brain) Please use left ear while using cell (mobile), because if you use the right one it will affect brain directly. This is a true fact from Apollo medical team.
