Outlook is a Microsoft office based mailing application and desktop information management program. Outlook connects to a Microsoft Exchange server and access a mailbox. Folder sharing and accessing a shared folder over network :

1. To Share a folder you need to open my computer or Windows Explorer ( Win button + E ).
2. Right-click the appropriate folder and then click Sharing.
3. In the folder's properties, click Share this folder. Use the default name for the share. Click Permissions.
4. In the Permissions for dialog box, click Add.
5. In the Select Users, Computers, or Groups dialog box, double-click the Authenticated Users group, and then click OK.
6. In the Permissions for dialog box, click the Authenticated Users group.
7. In the Permissions list, for the Full Control permission, click Allow. After you have set the appropriate permissions, click the Everyone group, and then click Remove if you don’t wish all to access your folder.

To access a shared folder over network.

1. Click Start, click Run, and then type the computer name or IP Address of the remote system to which you are attempting to connect and the sharename of the shared folder on that computer: for example
\\computername\sharename
For example, if you want to connect to a share that is named Data on a computer that is named Fileserver, type \\Fileserver\Data.
2. If you are to do so, type the user name and password that is required to gain access to the computer. After you type the appropriate credentials, a window opens that displays the contents of the share folder as per your given permissions..

Your IP address, Computer name :

When you connect to the internet, either via your internet service provider (AOL, Prodigy, etc.), or your office LAN connection, you are assigned an IP address (Internet Protocol address) by the server. This address identifies your computer from the other computers on the internet. Your IP address can be either static, meaning it never changes, or dynamic, meaning each time you dial-in or login you are assigned a new address for that session. Check with your internet service provider or network administrator to find out if your computer uses static or dynamic IP addressing.

If you want to see your settings, in Windows 95/98, Go to Start/Run and do the command "winipcfg", That will bring up a network screen with your values.

Windows 2000 and XP you can go to a command prompt ( Start -> Run, type "cmd") type "ipconfig"

On the Macintosh to get your IP address, Apple Menu --> Control Panels --> TCP/IP Control Panel

On Mac OS X:1. Open system preferences. 2. Under internet and network, click 'network'. It will show you your IP address..

Teleconferencing is a telephone call between more than two participants. The most simple form of teleconferencing is using three-way calling to setup your own teleconference between yourself and two other particpants. Remote desktop connection :

Remote Desktop Connection is a client application that allows you to view or even control the desktop session on another machine that is running a compatible server.

The first thing to do is enable Remote Desktop on the machine you want to connect to. Open System Properties either by right clicking the My Computer icon in the Start menu and choosing properties or Windows Key + Pause/Break on your keyboard. Click the Remote tab in System Properties and check the box next to "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" and "Allow remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer" . You can verify RDC is working by connecting from any other computer on your local network.

System Lock/Unlock, Log off, restart :

Our computers are protected with password security system that can only be accessed using a valid password by a permitted user. Users can be managed at control panel User profile option.
We can Lock / unlock a system by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del to ensure no one except us can access the PC. Here the processor will be still running in the back ground and hence applications will be alive.
Restarting the system stops and kills all applications, get the system re booted. Advantage is system gets refreshed and processor gets unloaded.
